The process of constructing
highways or subway lines sometimes requires tunnel excavation. How to
improve the quality of tunnel excavation and the speed of construction
under the premise of ensuring safety is a common concern of construction
builders.
Black technology? Wireless video transmission + remote control
The construction of mountain tunnels faces multiple difficulties,
such as complex environment, difficult wiring and blasting hazards. At
the same time, traditional wireless network coverage in the tunnel is
also prone to signal disconnection.
A new intelligent remote construction solution was proposed –
wireless video transmission + remote control solution. The deployment of
cameras were placed on the unmanned excavator to collect on-site
construction information. And the on-site information will be
transmitted to the remote control room by the wireless video
transmission devices. Staff in the remote control room will watch the real-time video while remotely controlling the excavator.
3 sets of BeamLink-Duo supported unmanned construction project of mountain tunnel in Japan
Recently, the Japan Construction News reported on a wheeled excavator remote control system developed by Nishimatsu.
In this remote control system test, the contractor realized unmanned construction of mountain tunnel by using three sets of BeamLink-Duo for multiple video transmission and a remote control system.
Specific deployment plans are as follows:
1. Deployment of cameras and BeamLink-Duo transmitters on unmanned excavators
Eight front and back cameras are arranged on the roof of the unmanned
excavator to collect all-round audio and video datas of the excavator’s
working environment. One of the cameras is directly connected with the
transmitter; the other six forward and backward cameras connected SDI
switchers, then the switcher and the transmitter connected, used to
transmit video and switch the front and back camera image; the last
camera connected the audio receiver module, then audio receiver module
connected with the transmitter, used to transmit audio information.
2. Audio and video signal reception and control signal return
Hundreds of meters away from the construction site in the remote
control room, 3 receivers installed on the roof, used to receive
multiple audio and video signals. Receivers with HDMI wired access to
the control room’s analog console, while the control signal can be
transmitted back to the unmanned excavator through the RS232 interface
control signal expansion module, to achieve unmanned excavator on the
front and back camera signal switching.
3. Remote control
The staff in the remote control room, according to real-time video
back to the vehicle control, through the independent remote control
system will transmit the vehicle control signal to the vehicle
controller on the excavator, and finally realize the excavator remote
driving control. Throughout the construction process, the audio and
video signals remain clear, smooth and stable.
Summary
The unmanned remote control solution(BeamLink-Duo + intelligent
remote control) was adopted in the test of the remote control system for
the mountain tunnel in Japan, fully implementing the advanced
technology concept of technological innovation and service to people.
Unmanned driving–The staff sits in the remote
control room to control the excavator construction hundreds of meters
away, realizing unmanned driving of the excavator on site.
Safety Control-–Through the camera on the unmanned excavator to monitor the construction site environment in real time. During operation, the vibration and noise will also be transmitted to the remote control room. Therefore, the staff can operate the excavator in the remote control room in almost the same environment as the actual operation safely and worry-free.
Wireless video transmission–The unmanned excavator
and the remote control room deploy wireless transmission transmitter and
receiver respectively, and the construction site information is
transmitted to the remote control room in real time by way of wireless
video transmission, which truly achieves ultra-low latency wireless HD
video transmission.
The project construction fully embodies the following features of BeamLink-Duo:
·High-quality and ultra low latency;
·Multiple video transmission share one wireless channel;
·4×4 MIMO and Beam-Forming technology;
·Support control signal transmission
Nishimatsu highly appreciated the excellent performance of BeamLink-Duo in this remote control system test, and will put it into practical use in the future.
